YOUTH (Middle and High School)

Weekly Activities:

Youth meet as a group on Wednesday nights during our LOGOS program.

On Sunday evenings the youth gather for food, fun, and fellowship.

Annual Activities:

We offer a confirmation class for junior high age kids as well as Bible study for junior and senior high when confirmation class is complete. The youth also do summer mission trips with other Presbyterian churches in the presbytery to various locations with each year being a different kind of mission trip.

SHYC is a presbytery sponsored high school weekend conference that takes place at Austin College in Sherman, TX. The conference consists of a keynote speaker, small group discussion on the theme, and a time to connect with other youth.

G.A.P. is a spring junior high weekend conference that takes place at Camp Gilmont in Gilmer, TX. In the fall, Youthfest is a junior and senior high weekend conference that takes place at Glen Lake Camp in Glen Rose, TX. Both of these conferences offer keynote speakers, bible study, and small group discussion and fun.

Synod Youth Workshop is a weeklong senior high conference that takes place at the University of Tulsa, Tulsa, OK. It is the highlight of senior high trips and is a powerful and meaningful conference with churches from all over the state of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. It is a week full of keynote speakers, bible study, mission projects, and a chance for the youth to grow in their faith.

LOGOS

LOGOS is a program for all ages based on Acts 2:24 and therefore has four main elements – Bible Study, Worship Skills/Choir, Recreation Play, and Family Time/Dinner.  At Grace First LOGOS is on Wednesdays during the school year from 3:15 – 8:15 p.m.  The conviction of the LOGOS ministry is this:  Nurturing people, especially young people, into right relationships of faith with God through Jesus Christ is THE most important thing the church ever does.  This right relationship with God will help all of us see the world through “God eyes” so we will treat others as children of God.  The ability for us to do this will make a huge impact on our lives now and in the future.
