February 2021: Racism

Social Justice Ministry Monthly Speaker Series & Resources

Resources and Information:

Monthly Speaker Series: Racism and the Call to Our Denomination to Action

Speaker: The Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson II, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, PCUSA

What: On January 6, 2021, the day which Christians celebrate Epiphany of our Lord, a Confederate flag was brandished in our nation's Capitol building and the sin of racism was on full display in our country. As the chief ecclesial officer of the PCUSA, Dr. J. Herbert Nelson is calling our denomination back to its historic social justice advocacy roots in the wake of so many injustices. Many of us are asking, "What can I do?" Dr. Nelson speaks to that question from his personal experience of over twenty-four years in ministry and six years as Director of the PCUSA Office of Public Witness. It is an extraordinary honor for Dr. Nelson to share his time, experience, and inspiration with us this month. Bring your questions, bring your concerns, and join this important discussion.
